Batchelor & Kimball constructed a 1,200,000 square foot, 40 gate international concourse addition at the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. This project consisted of over 50,000 feet of mechanical piping and 2,300,000 pounds of sheet metal. Batchelor & Kimball pre-fabricated the majority of the mechanical systems. Batchelor & Kimball provided LEED consultation services to assist in the achievement of LEED Gold certification. We managed crews in excess of 200 workers to deliver the project on-time and on-budget. In fact, when more than 80% of the design was completed, the project budget was reduced by $400 million. Batchelor & Kimball’s pre-construction team and engineers assisted in value engineering to complete more than 170 changes to the design to bring the project within the new budget. The Batchelor & Kimball team consisted of small, minority and disadvantaged sub-contractors and suppliers in a mentoring/JV program. The team consisted of over 20% MBW/SBE/DBE/MBE participation. A full 3D/BIM was produced and coordinated amongst all trades.
