84,000 Square Foot Manufacturing Addition
Negotiated with Design Assist Services
SCOPE OF WORK:
Pre-Construction Services, BIM (4D Model), Mechanical, Pre-Fabrication, Process Piping Pre-Fabrication, Plumbing, Insulation, Commissioning Assistance, Test & Balance
Batchelor & Kimball recently completed an 84,000 square foot mechanical expansion at Alcon/Ciba Vision’s manufacturing facility. All drafting and modeling was completed in four months and Batchelor & Kimball used the design-assist process to help accelerate the schedule. We sent our detailers and engineers to Philadelphia to work directly with the engineer of record on this project. This process enabled the contractors to proceed with spooling and fabrication months earlier than would have been possible with a traditional design-bid-build approach. Our scope of work included HVAC, plumbing, lab gasses, process piping and equipment commissioning. The piping systems included a tank farm, underfloor piping, process equipment connections and over 20,000 linear feet of specialty purified water systems. The majority of the manufacturing area is a clean room environment.
